What is a CSA and Why Should You Join?
A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program connects local farmers with the community by offering fresh, seasonal produce directly to you. By subscribing to our program, you’re bypassing the need to buy mass-produced, grocery store vegetables and opting for locally sourced, pesticide-free produce that is harvested at its peak of freshness. Our CSA members enjoy:

We launched our CSA Food Box program in 2021, and it has quickly become a favorite way for our community to connect with the land and eat healthy, local food.
How Does the CSA Program Work?
The CSA model is simple yet powerful. Here’s how it works:

Sign Up and Pay for Your Share: You pay upfront for a “share” at the beginning of the growing season (mid-July to mid-October). This helps us, the farmers, purchase essential supplies like seeds, perennials, and equipment.

Receive Weekly Deliveries of Fresh Produce: As the season progresses, we grow a variety of vegetables. When the crops are ready, you will receive your weekly CSA Food Box filled with fresh, locally grown produce. You’ll enjoy a variety of vegetables and special surprises from our farm each week.

Pick-Up or Delivery Options: CSA boxes are available for pick-up on Thursdays or we can arrange delivery if necessary.
Our program supports local farming and provides you with the freshest produce, from salad greens and herbs to root vegetables and canned goods made with our farm-fresh ingredients.

What’s Inside Your Weekly CSA Food Box?
Each week’s CSA Box is a delightful surprise, offering a rotating selection of farm-fresh vegetables and other goodies from our homestead. Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect:

Salad Greens: Green lettuce, spinach, kale, Swiss chard, salad mix

I heard about the CSA program being offered by Upper Humber Settlement and I was so excited to try it - fresh vegetables from a local farm once per week sounded wonderful! But this program was so much more than that - organic locally grown produce, opportunity to taste new vegetables that I had never tried before, delicious bottled goodies such as homemade salsa and mustard pickles (some of the best I have ever tasted!) and goodies from other local businesses such as butter, cream and honey!
At Thanksgiving, we received all the fixin's for a beautiful meal, including a homemade apple dessert. Congrats on a great program, I look forward to seeing what's next!

Signing up for the CSA program at The Settlement NL was a game changer for me and my family. My little girl couldn't wait to see what was in Mom's brown paper bag. I don't know who was more excited to eat the fresh veggies more, me or her!
